GaN CMOS power switch delivers 40A to RF PAs

Specialist distributor RFMW has the 365CT000, 40A pulsed switch from Xsystor, Inc., that offers easy integration of GaN amplifiers in high speed, pulsed power systems.

These CMOS, complementary MOSFET switches have clocked speeds of under 200nsec for rise and fall times. Allowing source and drain voltages from 28 to 80V, the Xsystor switch is compatible with standard and high voltage GaN amplifiers and transistors. Operating temperature is specified for -40 to 85C but will withstand 175C with derated voltage and current capacity. The 365CT000 comes in a 23 x 27 mm, castellated SMT package allowing it to be placed on or near the voltage supply line's RF choke. Xsystor also offers inverting and non-inverting voltage controllers and sequencers for GaN implementations.

Checkpoint introduces dual integrated RF-RFID labels

Checkpoint Systems, Inc., a leading global supplier of merchandise availability solutions for the retail industry,has announced patent-pending dual RF-RFID labels that incorporate UCODE 7 chips from NXP.

The UNO Series helps retailers protect health/beauty/cosmetics categories, hard goods and apparel merchandise using their current electronic article surveillance (EAS) infrastructures -- while at the same time delivering radio-frequency identification (RFID) benefits in inventory cycle counting and merchandise management for omni-channel fulfillment and auto replenishment.

The UNO Series with UCODE 7 chip requires less power for increased read and write sensitivity -- providing faster performance in reading and encoding. It also provides greater broadband width, which enables improved functionality internationally, where the frequencies of readers’ RF signals vary from region to region. This means that regardless of the point of manufacture or destination location, the UCODE 7 will perform reliably.

UNO labels were specifically developed to provide a more affordable upgrade path, allowing retailers currently utilizing EAS protection to transition to RFID by providing the option to apply it to certain merchandise categories and still leverage the EAS infrastructure they already have at stores.

In fact, the first Checkpoint health & beauty retail customer has already begun implementing UNO labels with great success improving its inventory visibility and reducing out-of-stocks. This retailer stated that because of the accurate inventory visibility with this new technology, it has now reduced its inventory counts and still improved out-of-stock metrics. A majority of Checkpoint EAS pedestals are already easily upgradeable with an available RFID kit.

Dans le cadre de cet accord, Tronics accède au portefeuille de brevets du constructeur aéronautique à travers une licence exclusive pour le développement d'une plateforme technologique de rupture pour switches RF-MEMS.

Cette plateforme servira les divisions d'Airbus Group, ainsi que toute autre compagnie désirant fabriquer des switches nPnT ou des circuits sur-mesure, tels que les filtres accordables, les matrices de switch et les lignes de délai commutées.

FlexLink L-Band Switch Matrix Series Rolls Out From RF Design

This new stand-alone and small sized matrix family features the unit variants FlexLink S7-8816 supporting 8:8, field expandable to 8:16 inputs/outputs via license-key activation and the FlexLink S7-1616 available with 16:16 inputs/outputs. Airbus Group and Tronics partner on RF-MEMS switches

Tronics, a designer and manufacturer of innovative nano and microsystems, and Airbus Group, a global leader in aeronautics, space and related services, today announced their partnership for the development of capacitive MEMS-based RF switches and circuits. Under this agreement, Tronics accesses Airbus Group's patent portfolio through an exclusive license for the development of a breakthrough technology platform for RF-MEMS switches. This platform will serve Airbus Group business units, as well as any other company wishing to manufacture nPnT switches or custom circuits, such as tunable filters, switch matrices and switched delay lines.

RF-MEMS constitute a promising technology for a large array of industrial applications such as test and instrumentation, 5th generation (5G) communication infrastructures, satellite communications and radar systems. The capacitive RF-MEMS technology platform developed by Tronics and Airbus Group Innovations, the corporate research and technology network, will enable the manufacturing of higher frequency switches and circuits, offering high linearity and wide band coverage with high power handling capabilities.
